Series Details Edit

Originally settled by migrants from Eurasia who crossed the Bering Strait some 12,000 years earlier, the great civilizations of the Incas, Mayas, and Aztecs flourished across what are known today as North and South America. Europeans landed in the Americas in the late 15th century, ushering in a new era of colonization and changing political and demographic landscapes. Today, 14% of the world's population, or 980 million people, inhabit the territories of the Americas.
